Mediocre Zoo Trails

We went out to the trails at the zoo for this week’s Thursday adventure. The air looked hazy, but apparently the air quality wasn’t that bad. We were joined by a new person named Megan, and she brought her dog Nova.

We all missed Riley, who said she was going to bring her stick from winning the 50/50 Mystery Ultramarathon in Solon Springs. Way to go Riley!!!!

I spent the first half of the run hanging out with Karen, who I hadn’t seen in a while. She gave me advice on how to deal with my recent calf injury, and told me about the run she did in place of the Curnow Trail Marathon that was cancelled due to air quality. But good on her for being ready for it. Trail marathons are no joke.

On the way back, I brought up the rear. We stopped periodically to regroup. The first half was a lot of uphill, but on the way back it was mostly down, and a lot shorter so the downhill was probably steeper.

Someone supplied some bubbly at the parking lot, and we hung out for a bit before heading over to Matt’s house.

I got to catch up with Matt a bit on the car on the way there, as well as some more after everyone left that evening. I do like group chats, but it feels like closer bonds are formed when it is one on one.

We did not run loops around the cul de sac as we originally said in jest. Had my legs felt better, I would have done at least a few loops.

Lily (Matt) treated us to beverages and snacks and we hung out around a fire in the back yard. Ethan dished everyone up. We reminisced about everyone’s first day, it was some fun memory jogging. We talked about chairs to bring hiking or camping. We gave Brewer a ton of dog treats. And talked about maybe keeping track of quotes or random things we say. And Lonna had a list she had been keeping from her daughters, and shared a few with us. Kelly talked about a shopping experience where an employee followed her around pointing out the good deals. And we got a long and detailed back story of Brewer from Ashley, complete with pictures, including pictures of his parents.

Another great night in the books. Thursdays are the best nights of the week <3

Hopefully see you all this Sunday for the July art run.
