Mediocre Trail Maintenance

Mediocre Trail Runners isn’t just about running. We do volunteer work too. On thursday we decided to omit the run and to some trail maintenance, weed whacking and pruning, to keep our trails looking good.

We, unfortunately had a limited number of spots. Some people signed up and didn’t come, but some came with short notice to fill the blanks, and we got the group filled.

It started with a guy named josh getting the equipment ready and explaining what we were supposed to do. How high to leave stuff, what to cut and what to skip, how to operate the weed whackers, etc.

I learned some stuff, I had never even used a weed whacker before. And I think everyone had fun.

As always, we had a nice conversation at the end. We ended up hanging out in the parking lot for a while. With conversations about how it went, and more importantly, when and how often are we planning to do it again.

I got to ask Nate for some advice on making an eventual transition to hundred milers. Knowing the he recently became a “Gnarly Bandit” himself, I wanted to ask him questions about those races specifically, since 4 of them are hundred milers.
