2 different charity races. The short one is a more traditional style 5.5k trail run through pine valley.
The longer one is a variable distance orienteering race. Follow markings to the next set of markings and keep searching for more as they eventually lead you to data cards that tell you where to go next. People traditionally form groups, even people that have never met anyone there generally group up as they try to figure out the where to go. Very much terrain, going off the path through woods, potentially through swamp or anything else that can be in the forest. Test your skills in Northern Minnesota’s version of the Barkley marathon (but much shorter, and much easier, but the same spirit.)
Entrants are encouraged to wear flannel, the traditional attire of the lost forester. And join us for pancakes, sausage, and orange juice, after the races.
100% of the profit (after paying expenses) goes to charity, the Blue House Uganda.

The Lost Forester Runs of Pine Valley provides community and visiting runners a family friendly trail run on Saturday August 23, 2025 morning and a fund raiser for the Blue House Orphanage for 30 girls in Kazoo, Uganda.

The Lost Forester Runs of Pine Valley run is a trail race with 2 options — 5.5K on the ski trails that run through Pine Valley’s scenic pines and hardwoods, or 12.5 miles that run on the trails and off the trails.

A word to the wise, being lost means distances may vary a bit from the posted distances.

Your participation in this race helps girls and young women grow in a safe, caring environment, and receive more education. With the support from Blue House, they can become independent adults, with a chance to beat the poverty that they faced as young, vulnerable children and orphans.
