Brighton Beach June 20th, before Grandma’s

last run before Grandma’s. Pretty easy terrain, but at least it was trail. The sand always reminds us how hard it is to run in sand. And it reminds me of the Rocky movies when rocky is running on the beach with Apollo and they are training.

Some low branches to duck under. Some parts where the bushes kinda grew in and narrowed the path, nothing bad.

Some of the conversation was about the book “how to win friends and influence people” which I read a while back when I was still very nervous talking to people and thought having a blueprint for how to interact would help me feel less nervous. I still remember assuming it was going to be a book about high powered business people talk to each other. And it is. It just isn’t what I was expecting, because it was basically about how to act like a really nice Grandma. With rules like listen more than talk, be nice to people, assume the best in their intentions, and talk about things they are interested in.

Someone asked what the most boring subject I ever acted interested in was. And truthfully, none of them. If someone is excited or happy about what they are talking about, it is never boring listening to them share their passions with you.

Afters were at Hoops. Which is always fun. They are nice people to hang out with. I found myself at a table hanging out with some people volunteering at the medical tent and one of the pacers. I tried to ask Dot to make another drawing we could turn into Strava art, but asking her to include a trail seemed to make the task too hard. Still looking forward to the pumpkin she drew, we will probably do that one in october.

Good luck in your races this weekend everyone 🙂
