Peter is back!!! I think there is debate whether it was him or Riley that started mediocre trail runners, but it is always a happy day when either of them come back.
This week we voted on our Mediocre Trail Run. And even though I was really pulling for Lily’s cul de sac, Brownell won. So we met at Peterson aid station, hung out a bit, and for some reason the group didn’t want to vote on where to go. I just assumed they would. Next time I will be better prepared, very likely with a GPS route.
Part of the way through, someone sprained their ankle. Never fun 🙁 but a few people went back with him to make sure he made it.
Nate had just done some maintenance on this trail with some other people the day before. So he showed us the freshly cut spots, and of course, they were beautiful.
Afters were at Tiki Town. Apparently that restaurant was going to be named Tequila Town, but the city got mad at an alcohol being in the name and forced them to change it. I was freezing under the air conditioner. It was our last meal with Greybeard before he sets off on his 3 month bike trip from Bamf to Mexico accross the continental divide, so It was good to catch up with him.
I feel like the main topic of conversation was the nurse’s strike and contract negotiations. Ashley and Brian filled us in on stuff. We also talked about future runs we might be able to do, ashley had an idea for a capture the flag type of run, and brian suggested some additions to it. We talked about maybe staying over and doing a race at Mt. Rushmore or other places.
We also talked about Nick’s four by four by forty eight, where you run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. Ideally renting a cabin and hanging out together, board games, and friendship. Not sure if he is doing it this summer. He has a pretty full schedule. I want him to do it, it’s his thing, and it sounds cool. And I don’t want to do it in the winter lol.
Five of us are splitting hotel rooms and running in afton on saturday, 3 are trying the 50k ultra and 2 are doing the 25k. Weather looks super miserable lol, but fingers crossed.
